Hildred Wins World Title

At the UCI Masters World Road Championships in Lorne, Victoria in October 2025, Wayne Hildred took home one of his most treasured victories of his career. Wayne raced professionally in Europe, and as every cyclist dreams, he wanted to win the coveted rainbow jersey. After a big hiatus in his career post Europe, Wayne resumed racing later in life, and started to dream again. This dream came into reality, recently in Lorne.
Congratulations Wayne on a meticulous training preparation for this win. We targeted this race three years ago, and through a steady progression of racing several events over this period, coupled with a heavy weights program and rest, he achieved the ultimate prize.
As a side note, one of these “other events” happened to be the Australian Masters Championships, held 3 weeks earlier. Wayne jumped into a move within the first 500m and with one other rider, they time trialled for the entire race. With 10km to go, the cat and mouse tactics started. Wayne patiently refused to work, resulting in the bunch catching them with 500m to go. Wayne jumped onto the back of the as they came into the finish. Wayne slip stream up to speed, before he launched his winning sprint.
The Aussie title in September 2025 (one of 30 odd titles he has now won), followed up by the UCI Masters World title in October 2025 were the highlight of his decorated career. Congratulations once again.
