Macdonald Shaw Team – Support Sponsors
The Macdonald Shaw Cycling Team rode to Carnegie and Clayton South today, to meet two of our team sponsors and thank them for their support.
The first stop was Fitzroy Cycles where we met and chatted with Bill Hocking. Bill has been in the bike industry his entire life, and has sponsored many riders who have gone on to become National and World Champions. Bill is looking forward to being involved with the team, and supports our holistic philosophy of developing these riders so they can become competitive at a National level, as well as being educated and well-rounded young adults.
After visiting Fitzroy Cycles, the boys rode to Clayton South to visit the Head Office of Walkinshaw Performance. Tony Harris (National Sales Manager) and Alan Hale (Program Engineer) met the boys and let them sit and touch (but obviously not drive) a few of the cars that have been ‘supercharged’. Tony Harris explained to the group one of the key focuses of Walkinshaw Performance is to bring improved performance and drive efficiency to the customers vehicle. He explained that Walkinshaw brings your car to life with the very best in performance upgrades. Leigh (Head Technition) took us to his workshop and showed us how they test and tune a supercharged motor. In a soundproof workshop room, Alan flicked a switch and created a 60km/hr wind to simulate the car driving, as well as turning on huge fans to suck out the exhaust fumes. Even with blocked ears, the noise was amazing as the car was put through its paces.
Thanks to both Fitzroy Cycles and Walkinshaw Performance for your time today. The team looks forward to their first big race – the Bay Criterium Series.
