Pursuit training – 23 October 2010
This Saturday we will be doing specific training for the pursuit and time trial (500 and 1km).
What to bring:
Rollers: to spin on after your motor pace warm up, before your pursuit starts and after each pursuit.
Pursuit bars/aero bars – have these on your bike for the warm up (so put these on BEFORE Saturday)!!!!!
Food and drink to snack on.
Warm up:
Motor pace warm up with some flying laps to warm up properly. You will do this warm up WITH aero bars on!!!!
Main session:
Using your race gear for pursuiting, you will be doing various timed efforts to determine your scheduling for 2km, 3km or 4km individual pursuits, depending on your race distance.
This session is designed to teach you about pacing and what schedule you can ride to. For senior athletes, you can trial different gears to experiment with what cadence/lap times, etc you can sustain.
You will also do standing 500TT and 1km TT (depending on your age), gate starts and other motor pace activities
We will need the assistance of a few parents to help write the lap times for each athlete. These lap times are important to see what the athlete can do now, and help determine what pace we want them to try and hold, for the upcoming Metro and Country Track Championships, in November.
Any questions about the above, please call us.
