Grafton to Inverell – 2^nd

Location: Inverell, New South Wales

Conditions: strong cross head winds, 25C

Course: 140km – hilly course

I have just spent my last week of the 2002 season training with Dave Sanders and his U23 men’s AIS team in Berleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and then in Grafton.  I’m pleased with my form and was keen to do well in my last race for the season.  The guys raced over a distance of 220km and set off at 8am.  The girls race commenced at the top of a nasty 17km climb, 80km into the mens race.

I travelled ahead of the mens race with Dennis Tanner, who helped me out during the race.  Dennis passed bidons to me at the two designated feedzones, whilst  Davo and BJ fed the guys.

The final 10km was mostly downhill as we headed into the township of Inverell.  The course had us going past the start/finish line and completing a 2km loop before coming into the home straight.
