Fred Icke Handicap

Kelly Cycle Coaching had about 15 riders tackle the tough Fred Icke handicap race in Cresswick last week.  The Ballarat-Sebestapol cycling club organised a race for the juniors consisting of 1 lap of the course (45km) as well as 3 laps for the senior riders.

The junior event was attended by Nick White, Angus Lyons, Hamish Haynes, Ash Gillespie and Steve Carroll.  The handicaps made it tough work for scratch riders, Angus and Lucas Hamilton, who never made contact with the out-markers.

Local rider, Nick White had a great ride.  Nick and Jack Bell caught all the earlier outmarkers and continued to work hard all the way to the finish.  Nick out-sprinted Jack to take the title.  Well done Nick who has recently returned from a term at King Island.

In the senior race the following rider took the start line:

Liam White, Aaron Blomeley, Micky Hale, Nick Bien, James Cummings, Carley McKay, Vic Snibson, Maddy Cardillo.

Liam White got amongst things after the Scratch group caught his group heading into the final lap.  Alex Morgan attacked and held on to take the win.  In the bunch kick, Liam fought hard, finishing 13th and taking the first Ballarat rider prize.  Well done Liam who is in the middle of exams right now and has been only doing limited training when he can fit it in. A good weekend for both Liam and Nick White!
