Christmas Party Photos

Yesterday Kelly Cycle Coaching held their annual Christmas party at Toti’s Italian restaurant for all athletes, parents and friends.  With complimentary food and drinks provided to all guests, the athletes had it all worked out, seating themselves within a metre of the long food table to graze all afternoon.

Santa Claus arrived in the late afternoon giving presents to all our athletes, as well as their younger brothers and sisters.

Bob and Helen thanked the support of sponsors and health professionals whose help during the year have contributed to the development of our athletes, including several State and National champions.

In particular, we extended our thanks to:

  • CharterMason,
  • George Pezaros (Degani),
  • Rob Eva (SRAM),
  • Dan O’Brian (Power Bar),
  • Peter and Agapi (Bikes De Ver)
  • Maude Ruegg (our dietician)
  • Jason Nichols (Inspiried Orthotic Solutions)
  • Dee Jennings (Strength and Conditioning Coach)
  • Wendy Braybon and Kate McGillivray(our physio’s),
  • Adam King, (our web guru), and also
  • Parents who help out each week at the track with time keeping and holding athletes.

We also announced the formation of the Macdonald Shaw Cycling team, a new team we will be directing and managing.  The first race will be at the Bay Criterium Series with riders being selected to join this team, from the athletes we coach.  We gave special thanks to Greg Macdonald (owner of the Macdonald Shaw recruiting firm) who is the major financial contributor to this team.  Along with Greg, we thanked the other team sponsors, Walkinshaw Performance (Tony Harris and Alan Hale), Fitzroy Cycles (Bill Hocking) and Mark Cummings (Powered by Cummquott – don’t ask!).

Young Dylan Bilston received the Athlete of the Year award for his help with the start gates at the track each week, as well as his assistance with Kate Dunk, after she crashed in a triathlon earlier this year.  He calmly found her parents, gave advice to them about how to reassure Kate, found paramedics and acted well above his tender age of 11.

Athlete of the year

Bob and Helen wish all our athletes, parents and friends a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.  Thankyou for your generous gifts which were not necessary but very much appreciated.  We both have many km’s to ride in the New Year to burn off the wine and chocolates it looks like we’ll be consuming over the next month or so.  A healthy gift of couscous, corn and salmon was much appreciated by Bob.  He was so happy (NOT!) to be given his favourite three food items – thanks Cummquott!
